Here at Calabogie Rustic Farm we started making maple syrup in 1998. We set out a few cans and boiled it up in a pot over the campfire and we have been hooked ever since. Since then for the last 20 years, we have had approximately 100 cans out. Boiling on a flat pan on a homemade woodstove making syrup for family and friends.
In 2020 we have teamed up with a neighbour ( Calabogie Family Farm) and have put in a pipeline increasing the taps to 500 this year, with more to come in the future. We are both dedicated to producing the best maple syrup possible.
We now produce our syrup using the most energy saving means available. However, in keeping with tradition we still collect our cans using our team of Percheron horses, and our sap is still boiled on a wood-fired evaporator. Which means our syrup still has the same delicious, nutritious flavour.
All maple syrup products are also sampled and tested before packaging or bottling.
We have many repeat customers that LOVE the rich maple flavour we produce.
